The game card is every rule of the game, about 13k characters, but not its answers: those stay in a sealed file on this site, so even pasted, Twelve Chimes: Halloween Riddles needs a chat that can open a link. Pasting the answers in yourself would spoil it. Twelve Chimes: Halloween Riddles is a free riddle game you play inside ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. How to start
- Open it in your AI. Tap Open in ChatGPT or Open in Claude and press send, or paste the play prompt into any assistant that can open links. No paid plan required.
- The clock loads. The host fetches the sealed file, reads you the start of the SHA-256 commitment published before release (the full value fills in on /verify), then strikes the first chime.
- Answer each riddle. Type an answer or ask for a hint. "Is it a…?" counts as an answer, and a wrong answer turns up the next hint: fewer hints, more points.
- Verify the seal. After the twelfth chime, paste the sealed file's text, from SOLUTION to the SALT line, at aigamecards.com/verify to confirm no answer moved.
Questions
- Can ChatGPT host a riddle game fairly?
- Not on its own. Ask a chat model to give you a riddle and it has no fixed answer to hold yours against, so it tends to agree with any answer you argue for, or quietly change its own. On this card the twelve answers, the forms each one accepts and every hint were sealed under a SHA-256 commitment before release; the AI fetches that sealed file at the start and is told to check you only against it, by a matching rule printed on the card. The seal proves no answer moved. It does not prove every ruling was right, which is why the rule is spelled out and the sealed list is yours to check after the game.
- What if my answer fits but isn't the sealed one?
- It counts as wrong, and the next hint turns up; the host cannot add an answer mid-game. Before sealing, every riddle went to two AI test solvers, and a further pass listed what children, and British and American players, might say. A guess counts when it contains the sealed answer or one of its accepted forms, wherever it sits in your sentence, unless it also names one of the sealed wrong answers. The likeliest near-misses are on that sealed list with the reason each fails, read out when the riddle ends. A half-answer, such as what a pun means without the pun itself, does not count.
- Are these Halloween riddles for kids?
- Yes, and there is no gore. The first chimes are written for a nine-year-old; the last three turn on wordplay and are the hardest. A family can play as one team at one screen, with a parent at the keyboard for younger children. Nothing asks for a name or any personal detail.
- How long does it take, and how is it scored?
- About fifteen to twenty-five minutes. A riddle solved with no hints scores 5, after one hint 3, after two 2, after three 1, and a missed riddle 0; a wrong guess turns up the next hint, the same as asking. Twelve riddles make 60. Par is 55, our estimate for an adult team, not a measured average.
- Does the chat have to be able to open a link?
- Yes. The host fetches the sealed answer file from aigamecards.com when the game starts, and pasting it in yourself would show you all twelve answers. Not every app can open links, and that changes; aigamecards.com/launch-matrix shows which currently do. No account or paid plan is needed. To check the seal afterwards, open the sealed file, copy its text from SOLUTION to the SALT line and paste it at aigamecards.com/verify, which fills in this game's commitment and rebuilds it in your browser. The commitment covers that text, not the whole file, so hashing the file itself gives a different number.
