Bramblewood

A cozy woodland day to share with a young player: find a lost hedgehog, cheer a grumbly brook, and ready the Lantern Festival before dusk.

Bramblewood is a free family role-playing game you play inside ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. A gentle, all-ages Ironquill one-shot your AI runs as game master: a woodland festival you set right with kindness. For 1–4 players, about 30–60m a session, it needs no signup — open it in your assistant, or paste one link, and play.

How to start

  1. Open a chat together. Start a new chat in ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Any of the three works and no paid plan is needed. Sit with your child so you can read along.
  2. Paste the starter. Copy the Bramblewood starter prompt from its game page and send it. The AI sets the scene in the woodland on festival morning and offers three friends to play.
  3. Play a woodland friend. Pick the brave mouse, the kind badger, or the curious sparrow, then say what you do. The AI narrates gently and rolls the pre-rolled dice for you.
  4. Save when you stop. Ask for a save code before you close the chat. Paste it into any AI later to finish the festival.

Questions

Is this safe and appropriate for children?
Yes. Bramblewood is our all-ages card, made for kids around 6 to 10 playing with a grown-up. There is no violence, no scary imagery, and nothing frightening; every problem is solved with kindness and cleverness. The worst that happens is a spilled treat or a friend who needs a hug. Because it runs inside a general chat app, a parent should still play along.
Do I need to install anything to play?
No. Paste the starter prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and it plays, with no signup, download, or paid plan beyond the chat app you already use. A pre-rolled dice tape keeps the whole game inside the conversation.
How long does it take, and can we stop partway?
About 30 to 60 minutes, a good length for younger players. You can stop at any time: ask for a save code, then paste it into a fresh chat later to pick the evening back up, in the same app or a different one.
Can one child play alone, or do we need a group?
Either works. Bramblewood runs solo with the AI as game master, and up to four can share the woodland friends and take turns deciding. The AI never plays a child's character for them.
What is Ironquill?
Ironquill is our original tabletop role-playing system that an AI runs as game master. Bramblewood is its gentle, all-ages story: the same dice and choices as our other cards, told warmly for families.

Gentle, all-ages — no violence or scary themes.
