The Toll at Blackbridge
The tollkeeper takes payment in memories, and tonight the bridge will not let anyone leave.
The Toll at Blackbridge is a free tabletop role-playing game you play inside ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. One-shot tutorial for the Ironquill tabletop RPG, run by your AI game master. For 1–2 players, about 1–2h a session, it needs no signup — open it in your assistant, or paste one link, and play.

Opens your assistant, fetches the game, and starts — the same on your phone or desktop. Playing in Gemini? Tap Copy link to play and paste it in.
No web access, or want it as an installed app?
The game card is the whole prompt — paste it if your assistant can't browse the web. The Skill installs The Toll at Blackbridge into Claude on any plan: download it, then Claude → Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload.
How to start
- Open your AI. Start a new chat in ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Any of the three works, and you do not need a paid plan.
- Paste the starter. Copy the Blackbridge starter prompt from its game page and send it. The AI boots the Ironquill rules and sets the scene at the bridge's toll house.
- Play your character. Describe what you do. The AI narrates outcomes, calls for dice off the pre-rolled tape, and plays the tollkeeper and townsfolk.
- Save when you stop. Ask for a save code before you close the chat. Paste it into any AI later to pick the night back up.
Questions
- Do I need to install anything to play?
- No. Paste the starter prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and it runs, with no signup, download, or account beyond the chat app you already use. A pre-rolled dice tape and save codes keep everything inside the conversation.
- What is Ironquill?
- Ironquill is our original tabletop role-playing system, built to be run by an AI game master. The Toll at Blackbridge is its one-shot tutorial: it teaches the core rules, checks, dice, and consequences inside a single 60 to 120 minute story.
- Can I play solo?
- Yes. Blackbridge is built for one or two players. Solo, the AI runs every non-player character and the world; with two, you share the party and split decisions. Either way the AI never plays your character for you.
- Can I stop and continue later?
- Yes. At any point ask for a save code, a short block of text that captures the story state. Paste it into a fresh chat to resume exactly where you left off, in the same app or a different one.
