Word games for ChatGPT, Claude & Gemini

Sealed word games — every answer is committed before the first card turns, so the AI can check you, never move it. Free, no signup — each game is a card you load into your own AI assistant.

A word game with an AI works when the target word or definition is fixed and hashed before you play. The assistant scores your guesses against a committed answer rather than deciding after the fact whether what you said was close enough.

Scoring a word game against a committed answer

Word games with an assistant fail in a particular way: it grades generously. A near-miss becomes a hit because it can see what you meant, and a definition you invented is accepted because it sounds plausible. Without a fixed target, the score means nothing.

Both cards commit the answer first. The Word-Hoard seals its target and The Counterfeit Lexicon seals which definition is the true one, each hashed before release, and the assistant scores against that file. The bluffing game in particular only works if the real definition was chosen in advance — otherwise the truth is whichever one you did not pick.

The Counterfeit Lexicon was rebalanced when a cold playthrough won it at roughly 5.7 out of 7 with no vocabulary at all: the true definition was reliably the longest and the only one carrying a secondary-sense qualifier. The tells were removed, the letters redistributed and the salt rotated, because a word game you can beat on formatting is not a word game.

Questions about word games

Can the AI cheat at a word game?

Not about the answer. The target word, or which definition is genuine, is written into a sealed file and hashed before the card ships, and you can recompute that hash at /verify/ after the reveal. What an assistant can still do is grade you kindly on a near-miss, which is why both cards specify the scoring rule rather than leaving it to judgement.

How long is a round?

10 to 20 minutes, one player, all ages. They are the shortest cards in the library and the usual entry point — a full game fits into a break, and the reveal-and-verify at the end takes seconds.

Do I need a large vocabulary?

It helps but it is not the whole game. The Counterfeit Lexicon is about reading how a definition is written — real lexicography has a particular flatness that invented definitions rarely imitate well — and after the rebalance the formatting tells that made it winnable without vocabulary are gone. The Word-Hoard rewards systematic guessing more than word count.
